Sean Perry

Director of Clinical Operations, Gilead Sciences

With over 15 years of experience as an attorney and a research contracts leader, I am passionate about driving efficiencies and compliance in the clinical trial and sponsored research administration field. I currently work as the Director of Clinical Operations at Gilead Sciences, a global biopharmaceutical company that develops and delivers innovative therapies for life-threatening diseases.

In this role, I develop and lead a high-performing team that handles complex global investigator-sponsored and collaborative research contracts. I work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and functional service providers to ensure timely and accurate implementation and delivery of new studies. I also leverage my expertise in contract negotiation, management, and the law to maximize my team’s impact on the business. As a values-driven and service-oriented leader, I aim to support and empower my team and colleagues to achieve win-win solutions and advance the mission of Gilead Sciences.

Prior to joining Gilead Sciences, I worked for 12 years in the Sponsored Research office at Northwestern University, where I served as Director of Research Contracts.  In that role I oversaw all research-related contracting for the university—material transfer and data use agreements, to clinical research and trial agreements, to government contracts, and beyond.  I received my law degree from University of Utah in 2006 and a Master’s Degree in Literature in English in 2002.
